Special Olympics recognizes Wasilla High School

Wasilla High School received a national banner recognition for their excellence in the Special Olympics Unified Champion School program. The school is one of 68 that will be recognized across the country this year. Schools receiving this recognition must prove that they can meet 10 standards of excellence according to the guidelines set by the Special Olympics National Unified Champion School Recognition Program. These ten standards include cohesive sporting events, youth leadership opportunities and engagement across the campus.

Another award for Wasilla High

Wasilla High School received the National Coalition of Certification Centers (NC3) START award. They are recognized for implementing new technical and engineering certifications in their school. Wasilla High School is the only school in Alaska offering these types of programs. The award is presented to schools that have newly adopted NC3 leadership programs. Cook and other CTE teachers have been actively providing classes and equipment for students looking to pursue these certifications.
